Filled with sunny days of sailing and exploring, warm star filled nights, echoes of laughter and dancing, mouthwatering aromas of food; your amazing holiday can remain with you forever. Bring your video camera to record your holiday highlights or your friends may not believe the great time you had!
Lefkas Island is connected with the mainland through a floating bridge which will open once an hour. The island is 40 km by 15 km and is very beautiful. There are a lot of small villages in the mountains which look like you are going back in time. When you go to the south you will get to a fantastic sailing area that gives you the opportunity of constantly seeing something new. At the east coast the sea is quiet and the water is crystal clear.
Lefkas Town, our home base, is a medium-sized town with a nice centre. We have chosen Lefkas town because recently a large, modern marina has been built. The marina offers facilities; like water, electricity and showers. A supermarket, banks and ATM’s are available. Lefkas can be easily reached from the airport.
Nidri is a place where you can stroll along the quay. The view over the water is magnificent. In front of Nidri are a lot of small islands which makes it fun to go parasailing or rent a water scooter. Nidri has a long, small beach which is perfect for people who like a calm atmosphere. The island Skorpios, also in front of Nidri, belongs to the famous Onassis family. Drop your anchor but you are not allowed to call in for a visit or sightseeing.
Vasiliki is situated at the southernmost part of Lefkas. The village is a real paradise for sailors and surfers, and you can try windsurfing there too. Around the harbour are plenty of tavernas, bars and cafes.
This place is very popular, especially for sailing holidaymakers. It is a pleasant place to be and to spend the night. The village on top of the mountain is the perfect place for your holiday pictures, and the chance of seeing dolphins is very good. If you want to anchor overnight in a bay and you have food with you, Abeliki bay is the place to be. Take a swim, relax or read until the late hours. It's very quiet. There is no village, so that also means no bars...
Vathi is situated next to Abeliki bay. In this charming village you can eat delicious fish dishes and drink a real cappuccino at the local bar.
A bay on the north east corner of the island is the coming together of the flotillas for the social evening sharing finger food with drinks before dining at Dimitri and Spiros. The fun part is the greek dancing and joining in for a fun evening.
Paleros is a beautiful Greek town. The quay in the harbour has recently been expanded. Vounaki is only a short walking distance from Paleros, and you are allowed to moor there. The harbour has good facilities, and you can refuel. At sunset you will have a beautiful view over the water from the walkways. Mytikas -100% authentic greek experience like Paleros, Mytikas is a great place to experience true Greek culture. The harbour is filled mostly with fishing boats so you will see authentic Greek people going about their everyday business. From the islands Lefkas and Meganisi you can make trips to Kefalonia, Kastos, Kalamos or Ithaka.
The bay of Vathi is one of the prettiest in this area. The water is clear and blue. The beach bar with raffia roof looks like a location on the Bahamas. Kloni is one of the most idyllic villages in the area and an absolute must.
A steep walk from Ormos Polis from where the boats are moored will give you the most fantastic views west toward Fiskardo to Kamini on the climb up to the authentic greek village which sits high on the mountain. Lots of tavernas to choose from and a magnificent Greek Othodox church take pride of place in the town square. Taking a 100m walk north you can look to the east and see the town of Frikes.
Fiskardo is a place that will stay in your memory because of the colorful houses. It is very beautiful and also very popular! Eufemia is a nice village with a beautiful beach. You can take diving lessons if you want. The restaurant at the end of the village, from where you can see the lights of Sami, has a delicious menu. The food here is very luxurious by Greek standards; the homemade chocolate bavarois with sabayon sauce tastes superb!
Poros is situated southwest of Kefalonia. Because the ferry comes here, there is always a lot going on. It is fun to walk to the village over the big boulevard, with the beach on one side and the shops, restaurants and bars on the other.
If you want peace and quiet you can choose Kastos. It is very small, has no shops and you can get your bread at one of the two local tavernas.
You can eat the best lobster ever! The bay offers perfect shelter to moor. The harbour is very quaint with a sleepy charm, lined with shops, tavernas and Bar at the end of the Quay. |
